These gloves can be warn over mittens for extra winter warmth. I have been warm skiing with this combination. The area between the thumb and the glove, where the thumb meets the wheel, does wear through, but not as fast as with other gloves I have tried. The velcro closing is secure and lasts a loooong time. True to size.
