how do you know what size to buy?

To select the proper size for your patient, measure the width of their back just below the armpits. Check that measurement against the range for the three sizes. For instance if their back measures between 8 and 12 inches, you would need the small size, #46038. The foam-padded sides adjust in or out in this range for comfortable support.

I bought this for my mother in law ,she is wheelchair bound. It works well she can no longer fall over from side to side. Was using pillows this is so much easier. And more comfortable for her.
