 Years ago I had stretchers that hinged when inserting into the shoe, you then push down on the high point which straighten the stretcher out and were ajustable for many different sizes. What keeps these stretcher tight,and are they ajustable or are they spring loaded.

 These shoe trees are designed to hold the shape of your shoes. They are not designed to stretch shoes. They are available in 7 different sizes to accommodate most shoe sizes. We do sell a two way shoe stretcher that will stretch the length and width of shoes. It is our SKU # 45386
