Anti-Rollback System
As the user attempts to stand, they sometimes forget to apply the brakes.
This system locks the wheels automatically when the patient begins to stand.
Safety is ensured every minute of the day!
When the user sits, the brake arms lift off of the tires and the wheelchair functions normally.
How it works! The Anti-Rollback System attaches to the rear of most sling-seat wheelchairs. A lever directly contacts the underside of the seat and is mechanically linked
to the brake arms. If the patient begins to stand, the brake arms clamp
down on the wheels, preventing the chair from rolling backwards!
The seat lever “senses” the release of the patient’s weight from the seat
and triggers the brakes to hold the chair in place. When the patient is seated,
the brake arms automatically unlock, and the chair can continue to roll freely.
An attendant can still push an empty chair forward, even though it is locked
for a backward movement. A kit for use with heavy seat cushions is included!
Optional Alarm: This is triggered by a switch mechanically linked to the seat lever. Alarm requires batteries.
Please Note: This device works only with sling-seat wheelchairs. The use of wooden solid seat inserts, or drop seats will interfere with the operation of this product. Periodic inspection to ensure proper adjustment is recommended.
